PARSONS – The Tucker County Football team hosted Petersburg on Friday October 27th.  The Mt. Lions built a 30-14 lead and then Tucker County held off a Vikings comeback to collect the win 30-27.

Tucker County won the coin toss to start the game and deferred their option until the second half.  This gave Petersburg the ball to start the game.  The Mt. Lions forced a Vikings punt, but Tucker County fumbled the punt to give the visitors the ball at the Mt. Lions 29.  Petersburg would then cash in on a 3 yard touchdown run with 7:50 left in the first quarter.  The 2 point conversion was good to give the Vikings the 8-0 lead.  Tucker County responded with a good drive that was capped by a 14 yard touchdown pass from Ethan Rosenau to Garrett Wilfong.  The PAT was good on a Wilfong pass reception to make the score 8-8 with 2:09 left in the first.  Then in the second quarter the Mt. Lions defense would step up as Maddox Anderson collected an interception and returned it 59 yards down the sideline for the touchdown.  The PAT was good on a Jared Reall run to give Tucker County the 16-8 lead with 8:18 left in the second quarter.  A punt by the Vikings on their next possession gave the Mt. Lions the ball back at the Tucker County 27.  Then the home teams offense put together a 6 play 73 yard drive.  Blaike Adams finished off the drive with a 5 yard touchdown run with 4:34 left in the first half.  The 2 point conversion failed to put the score at 22-8 Tucker County.  The Vikings would get the ball back at midfield late in the second quarter.  Petersburg then got a big touchdown play on a 53 yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds left in the first half.  The PAT was no good to make the score 22-14 Tucker County at halftime intermission.

The Mt. Lions got the ball to start the third quarter and wasted no time getting the ball into the endzone.  Rosenau connected with Anderson on a bubble screen and then Anderson raced 62 yards for a touchdown.  The PAT was good on a Wilfong pass reception to give Tucker County the 30-14 lead with 10:05 left in the third quarter.  Petersburg was forced to punt, but the Vikings defense would get a big play on the next Mt. Lions possession.  The visiting team would intercept a Rosenau pass and return it 45 yards for a touchdown with 5:35 left in the third.  The PAT was no good to cut the Tucker County lead to 30-20.  The Vikings would then add another score with 4:15 left in the fourth quarter with a 20 yard touchdown pass.  The PAT kick was good to make the score 30-27 Mt. Lions.  Tucker County’s Reall carried the ball 6 straight times to pick up a couple first downs and the Mt. Lions ran out the clock to hold on for the 30-27 win.

Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County on 13 of 20 passing for 216 yards and Jared Reall finished with 17 carries for 108 yards rushing.  Maddox Anderson had 5 receptions for 97 yards and Blaike Adams added 4 receptions for 63 yards for the Mt. Lions.  Garrett Wilfong chipped in with 4 catches for 56 yards and Owen Knotts led the Tucker County defense with 8 tackles.

#1 Tucker County(9-0) will host Hampshire next Friday November 3rd at home for the last game of the regular season.  Kickoff is set for 7pm.  For more information go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
