Mt. Lions’ Softball Goes 1-2 in Bub Riggleman Tournament at Moorefield

The Lady Mt. Lions Softball team spent the weekend in Hardy County playing in the Bub Riggleman Tournament at Moorefield High School. The Mt. Lions first matchup was against Class AAAA Spring Mills. Tucker fell 13-4, only managing six hits in the bout, two from P. Hicks, and one from S. Pase, M. Evans, I. Bennett and R. Herron.

Tucker would then move on to face the North Marion Lady Huskies in the second matchup. The Lady Mt. Lions prevailed in this pulling out the win 8-5. P. Hicks collected the win, facing 23 batters while giving up just 7 hits. Senior, A. Shaffer collected the save. Tucker gathered a pair of doubles from A. Shaffer and S. Pase, with P. Hicks getting a triple. Tucker’s run would end in the following matchup against the Lewis County Minute Maids.

Tucker was in the game early, but Lewis County would ultimately pull away 16-6. Tucker collected just 4 hits in the game; A.Shaffer, P. Hicks, M. Evans, and C. Nicholas each collected a hit in the contest. Senior Ava Shaffer was selected to the tournament’s all-tournament team. Tucker will return to the diamond on Monday, April 14th at home against Southern Garrett (MD) at 5:30pm.
