Tucker County Girls’ Beat East Hardy Then Fall At Wheeling Central

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted East Hardy on Thursday January 2nd. Tucker County started the game with a 20-0 lead and then cruised to a 49-18 home victory.
The Lady Mt. Lions came out firing as they led after one quarter 21-3. The second quarter showed more defense and offense from Tucker County as they outscored the visiting Lady Cougars 11-3 to build the Lady Mt. Lions lead to 32-6 at halftime.

In the third quarter Tucker County once again outpaced East Hardy 13-3 to make the score 45-9 after three. The reserve players played the fourth quarter for Tucker County and East Hardy edged the host 9-4 in the fourth quarter to make the final score 49-18 Tucker County.
Jayden Kuhn led Tucker County with 13 points and Terra Kuhn added 12 points in the win. London Hood finished with 11 points, 7 steals and Kadie Colebank added 8 points, 6 rebounds for the Lady Mt. Lions in the win. The Tucker County JV fell in a close game 27-24.

WHEELING – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball traveled to Wheeling Central Catholic on Saturday January 4th for an afternoon matchup of top 10 teams. Wheeling Central pulled away in the fourth quarter to capture the home win by the score of 58-41.

The first quarter was competitive as both teams battled and Wheeling Central went on an 8-0 run late in the quarter to lead after one 22-10. The second quarter was once again bake and forth as both teams made runs, but the Lady Maroon Knights won the quarter 12-10 to lead at the halftime intermission 36-22.

The Lady Mt. Lions fought back in the third as they outscored Wheeling Central 13-9 to cut the home team lead to 45-35 after three quarters. The fourth quarter was a battle early, but Wheeling Central pulled away midway through the fourth and took home the victory over Tucker County by the final score of 58-41.

London Hood and Jayden Kuhn led Tucker County with 11 points each. Kadie Colebank added 10 points, 15 rebounds and Terra Kuhn chipped in with 9 points, 10 rebounds despite foul trouble the whole game in the Tucker County loss. Hood also added 5 rebounds, 3 steals and Jayden Kuhn pulled down 4 rebounds for the Lady Mt. Lions in the loss. The Tucker County JV dropped their game 48-35.

The Lady Mt. Lions(5-2) will return to action on Thursday January 9th at home against Petersburg. Tucker County will then travel to Charleston Catholic on Saturday January 11th for a varsity only contest at 2pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
