Tucker’s Lady Mt. Lion basketball team had themselves a very challenging week to say the least. They played three ranked opponents from three different divisions. They began the week with a home matchup against the #9 (AAA) Elkins Lady Tigers. This was such a great game it couldn’t be contained into four quarters and overtime was required to decide the victor. Tied at 52 at the end of regulation, Tucker would hold Elkins to 3 points in the overtime period and take the overtime win 59-55.

Matthews 25 pts, 15 reb, 4 stl, FT 7-11; Gross 20 pts, 7 reb, FT 3-7; Evans 5 pts, 5 reb, FT 5-9; Snyder 4 pts, 2 reb; Herron 2 pts, 2 reb; Moats 3 pts, 2 reb.

3 Point Goals 2-11: Gross (1) Moats (1)

The Lady Mt. Lions week would get even more difficult as they would travel to the #1 (A) Gilmer County Lady Titans. Tucker played Gilmer tight early in the contest as it was 15-14 in favor of the Titans after one quarter. Tucker would hang tough in the second quarter until senior Raven Matthews would find herself in foul trouble and be forced to leave the contest. This would prove to be vital in the contest as Gilmer would begin to pull away, 30-24 at the half. Tucker was never able to close the distance, and foul trouble would continue to plague the Mt. Lions in the second half as they would eventually fall 65-39.

Evans 15 pts, 8 reb, FT 4-8; Gross 12 pts, 1 reb; Matthews 7 pts, 4 reb; Herron 3 pts, 3 reb; Shaffer 2 pts, 1 reb.

3 Point Goals 4-11: Gross (2) Evans (1) Herron (1)

Tucker would close the week with a return trip home with a matchup against the 5th ranked (AA) Lady Irish of Charleston Catholic. Tucker would maintain a small lead through most of the contest holding leads of 2 points after the first period, 6 points at halftime and 4 points going into the final period. The Lady Irish would rally the troops and outscore Tucker 16-9 in the fourth quarter to take the win back to Charleston, 51-47.

Matthews 18 pts, 13 rebs, FT 3-6; Gross 15 pts, 5 reb, FT 5-6; Herron 6 pts, 3 reb; Shaffer 4 pts, 2 reb, FT 0-1; Moats 2 pts; Kitzmiller 2 pts, 2 reb.

3 Point Goals 1-8: Matthews (1)

Tucker will return home next Thursday, February 13th to take on the Tygarts Valley Lady Bulldogs, tipoff is set for 6pm.
