The Tucker County Cross Country team traveled to Flatwoods last week for the No Excuses Braxton County Invitational. Competing against a stacked field of eight teams, including Morgantown, George Washington, Ritchie County, North Marion, Braxton County, Robert C. Byrd, and Gilmer County, the Tucker boys secured a commendable 6th-place finish.
Leading the charge for Tucker County was Liam Gilligan, who crossed the finish line in 21st place out of 90 competitors with a time of 21:50. Close behind was Draven Bunnell, who finished 26th with a time of 22:11. Landon Wilfong followed in 50th place, clocking in at 24:58. Riley Coffman and Evan Spencer completed the team’s scoring, finishing 84th and 85th, respectively, with times of 34:10 and 34:19.
In a notable performance, Juniper Judy was the sole female representative for Tucker County. She put forth a respectable outing, finishing 18th out of 64 female runners with a time of 26:32.
The runners will return to the course on Oct. 3 as they head to Keyser for the Charlie Kuh Invitational.
