Tucker’s cross-country team hosted its annual Tucker County Invitational last week at Camp Kidd Park in Holly Meadows, with eight boys’ teams and six girls’ teams taking part.
On the boys’ side, Tucker finished sixth overall, with AAA Elkins High School taking the win, followed by St. Mary’s, East Fairmont, and Doddridge County.
There were 51 runners in the boys’ division, and Tucker was paced by Draven Bunnell with an overall 16th-place finish, running a 19:24.08, followed by William Gilligan in 21st with a 19:56.86 and Landon Wilfong in 27th, recording a 20:39.19. Tucker’s results were rounded out by Riley Coffman in 50th and Evan Spencer in 51st.
On the girls’ side, the Mt. Lions’ lone runner was again Juniper Judy, who finished 16th out of 29 girls, recording a time of 24:53.77.
The event was considered a success, and Tucker looks forward to hosting again in the future. The Mt. Lions now set their sights on the Potomac Valley Conference Championships, which will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Hampshire County High School.
